With 2020 now half over and seemingly every possible disaster deciding to occur in a single year, we shouldn’t need to tell you that insurance is more important than ever. That means insurance for your personal assets and your business, because, well, this year has made it pretty obvious that disaster can strike at any point and from any direction!

Since we focus on small businesses here in southern California, we would be remiss if we didn’t provide recommendations for those insurance providers who give your business the most comprehensive coverage possible. From our experience and research, State Farm provides exactly that and, if you want to work with the best supplier in town, Byron Galindo has gained a reputation for being one of the best insurance agents in the Santa Monica area.

A quick glance through his team’s social media reviews reveals his strength of character and the impression he makes on his clients.

Nice M. gives this testimonial after using Byron’s services for a number of items:

Very great service! I have two loans,a credit card, and insurance with Byron and I always refer people when I can. He very knowledgeable and helps a lot anytime I have a question or need to change my car or need a quote for another car(which is about every two months) he’s on it.  His staff is very well trained and always ready to help if you have a question. The Loan part was great too low rate and it gave me crazy buying power when negotiating price as well.

Alison P. gave this review on Yelp:

Such a personal, helpful person. Beyond insurance Byron helps with any other questions you may have in regards to work benefits and coverage & other spendings. He was very helpful with my husband’s disability and our auto insurance.

He also loves dogs & allowed us to bring our pup during our meeting! 5 stars for that alone 😉

Lucciana K. expands on Byron’s style here:

Byron Galindo and his team are simply amazing!! No matter the question, or issue, Byron will offer his undivided attention and do his best to meet your insurance needs. He has never failed me or my family! Byron has been my agent for over 3 years and has provided invaluable guidance. Seriously, he’s family at this point!! In addition, I, unfortunately have been in multiple minor car accidents and State Farm has always offered EXCELLENT and swift service!!! Thank you, Byron!!

Finally, Ravi Bhatia provides these kind words on Byron’s Google page:

In a boring industry, Byron has facilitated NOT boring, borderline genius solutions to solving my business insurance needs here in Santa Monica. He’s always willing to talk through hypothetical scenarios and run tests on different, creative ways to minimize insurance costs, and educate me on the bureaucratic nuances he has to deal with on the day to day. I’ve dealt with many insurance agents in my line of work, and I have not come across a more visionary person in insurance — a field that tends to attract risk-averse, don’t-ruffle-any-feathers types. Above all, though, he’s been an advocate and a friend. I’m grateful to have him in my corner.

So, if you’re looking to ensure that you’re protected from an increasingly turbulent year with no end in sight, give Byron a call. He’ll get the job done and leave you with a smile on your otherwise tired face.

The Life of a Business is a Highway

Brianna Heiz is the operator of a fleet at a small Californian trucking company that predominantly serves consumer product brands. In recent years, Brianna’s company has enjoyed steady growth, thanks to the year-over-year increase of new products created by more and more entrepreneurs and independent business owners in the area. “Whenever there are more products or new products in the market, businesses will require more shipments, either to retail locations where the product will be sold, or to the homes of their customers, if they are selling via direct to consumer.”

Truck driving is a demanding line of work, as well as an indispensable sector in our industrial economy. The commercial truck market is on the rise due to the growth of commerce, specifically e-commerce. Technology has greatly changed the nature of truck driving and operating a commercial trucking business. With the rise in demand for drivers, trucking companies have increased pay drastically as of 2019. Thus, the cost of business has increased in terms of worker compensation, making it even more critical for businesses to invest in commercial truck workers insurance.

“We knew that it was critical for use to invest in insurance for our business, because our entire operation needs to run smoothly and safely. If there are any accidents or other types of issues with the drivers who we employ, then we need to be prepared. The rising cost of labour has definitely made us more diligent about this,” says Brianna.

The job naturally involves risk, even though much is mitigated through skill and technology. And yet, accidents can still be common. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) reports that in “2016, there were 7,242,000 nonfatal traffic accidents, and 7.4 of those involved at least one large truck or bus.”

FMCSA reports that trucking accidents occur due to two categories of reasons: critical events and critical reasons. Critical events are the conditions leading to the potential of an accident: environment (weather, road conditions), vehicle (brakes condition, machine failures), and driver (performance).

Critical reasons the moments that happen immediately before, and as a result, directly cause the accident. These are usually due to human error, such as distraction or fatigue, as well as the nature and action of other drivers on the road at the same time.

According to the FMCSA, the top ten factors in accidents for large trucks and their drivers were:

  • “Brake problems
  • Traffic flow interruption (congestion, previous crash)
  • Prescription drug use
  • Traveling too fast for conditions
  • Unfamiliarity with roadway
  • Roadway problems
  • Required to stop before crash (traffic control device, crosswalk)
  • Over-the-counter drug use
  • Inadequate surveillance
  • Fatigue”
