The Life-Changing Magic of Design

It’s easy to overlook the beauty of everyday life. We think about what we see on a daily basis as ordinary, and thereby insignificant and unimportant. We get so caught up in the whirlwind of being busy all the time, forgetting to honour the magnificence of the present moment. We tend to move through the spaces and corners of our lives passively.

Modern design philosophy takes on the belief that the spaces of daily lives can be meaningful sanctuaries. Our spaces of work and enjoyment are not merely limited to their functional use. Just because a space has a specific intended purpose of utilization, doesn’t mean it also can’t be beautiful. Good design humanizes our surroundings, making them enjoyable to use and to gaze upon.

Personal style is a form of self-expression, a statement of the world we want to live in. Good design allows us to reflect and formulate a new life perspective. It allows us to see and move through life more consciously, with an appreciation and awareness for our environment. In many ways, it does what art can do for us – bring joy and hope to the most stressful and demanding moments in our lives.

Many people prefer to stay in the comfort of their own homes, for both work and play. There are now over 56 million freelancers in the US, with an increase of over 3 million in the past 5 years. As a freelancer, you spend most of your working hours at home, when you are not at a coffee shop or co-working space

This means that your home surroundings become your work environment. Therefore, it is worth considering transforming your home’s aesthetic and construction to allow to you to be productive. Imagine being able to wake up every morning and walk downstairs to make your morning cup of coffee while opening up your laptop to work at the counter of your dream kitchen. On the weekends, imagine reading a book or hosting a friends and family gathering in your dream living room. This sounds like fantasy, but it is actually very practical.

Most people wishing for their dream home will look to relocate to a brand new city, or purchase a brand new home on the market. However, you can actually build your dream home to reflect your lifestyle and personality by working with a custom home designer and builder.

To explore this, we reviewed Sailhouse Custom Homes, a company who has been transforming the Newport Beach housing landscape as a custom home developer. They plan and execute all stages of building a custom home, from zoning to design to construction to completion. They offer 3 types of services for homeowners: the signature home, the custom home, and the remodelled home.

The company’s founder has more than two decades of experience with real estate in Southern California and founded Sailhouse Custom Homes in 2009. Every home in Sailhouse’s portfolio reflects a distinct style. They are excellent at achieving a noticeably striking cohesion of both functional and design elements. The designers focus on the homeowner’s distinct sense of style to ensure that the final outcome reflects their tastes and preferences.

Beautifully Built Homes

Do you remember when you were younger and you would dream about building your “dream” home? (Pun intended)

You had every room perfectly laid out in your mind, every amenity accounted for, even that secret room hidden behind a bookcase door (we know, we all wanted that).

Then life got real. You realized that your perfect home is probably out of reach. No secret rooms hidden behind bookcases, no indoor pools, no super fancy kitchen.

Well, we want to invite you to start dreaming again!

As you know, here at CannGrow we feature some of the hottest, growing businesses in Southern California and today we have the pleasure of highlighting Sailhouse Custom Home Builders of Newport Beach.

Sailhouse is a premier real estate and development firm that does amazing work in and around Orange County. You can find them highly ranked on Houzz and today we want to give you a little tour of what they have done.

Buckle up and get ready to start dreaming again!

First up is an amazing open concept. You can see just how open they made this living room connecting it directly to the patio. It is an amazing place to host summer parties in beautiful southern California. And then in the “colder” winters, you can close up the patio and still get amazing natural light into the house.

Next, I want to highlight this incredible opening to a patio. I absolutely love the brick walls and then how the opening seamlessly connects the interior to the exterior. Imaging sitting on that porch and watching the sunset over the Pacific. Beautiful.

Okay, now here is one of my favorites, look at this amazing rooftop patio. I would absolutely love to have something like this at my house. Notice the fire place to the right. Imagine spending summer nights up here, gazing at the stars next to a cozy fire. This is the stuff dreams are made of.

Alright, I’ve got two more for you. This first one is simple, as it is just a door, but look how beautiful this. First, the coloring is superb. Then, the way door has the window in the top half and can open make it incredibly inviting. Most doors tend to keep people out, while this one screams “openness” and “friends are welcome.”

And we have now made it to our last one. This is another patio (clearly you can see what I would have in my dream house). This time we are in the backyard. The couches that surround the fire pit make for a great place to host and relax and I adore the large glass windows and doors that make it feel like you are connected to the inside of the house as well. This is one of the great perks to living in a place like Orange County where the weather is favorable for most of the year.

Well, I hope that this helped you to start dreaming again about your “dream” home! And as you can see, if you need someone to help you build yours, I would highly recommend that you check out Sailhouse. Southern California is proud to have them here and if you would like to contact them you can find them here:
