Your New Backyard: Landscaping Trends in the United States

Property owners are always interested in investing in beautiful landscaping trends. After all, it helps to jazz up the scenery. The great news is that with the latest inventions and development of advanced technologies, it is now possible to create the most impressive of outdoor spaces. Homeowners can now find simple lawn care solutions and landscape maintenance options, along with irrigation, fertilization, and water management methods. These modern developments can also help people to match their lawn care needs and responsibilities to their lifestyle choices and preferences.

Spending outdoors has significant restorative effects. Being closer to nature helps the human body rejuvenate and recover faster from daily stress and fatigue.

So why not spend some more time outdoors in your backyard. Here are some of the top rated landscaping trends from the United States to help you to decide how to landscape your property.

    Vertical gardening

Experts advise choosing plants that can survive over a varying range of temperatures. Homeowners of small condos, homes, and apartments who are looking for creative ways to add greenery to their life should look to vertical gardening. If you don’t have extensive outdoor space, it is possible to create a big impact. Some of the best vertical gardening ideas that you can try include plants on the wall vases, wall planters, terra cotta planter walls, and vertical jungles. In addition, designers and architects love to create hardscaping patterns such as basketweaves, chevron, waves and lattice.

    Modern and contemporary design

It’s time to think about modernizing your backyard with sleek landscape design solutions. Whether you need an elegant outdoor kitchen, modern firepit, contemporary water fountain, or yard Maintenance, Torrey Pines Landscaping can design and build multi-season functionality for your garden. Sophisticated irrigation solutions

Today’s busy lifestyle does not allow people to spend several hours in the garden everyday. But modern technologies make it easier to consistently ensure adequate lawn maintenance and care procedures. Remote irrigation technology allows for property owners to enjoy peace of mind. The most sophisticated smart technology irrigation systems can be controlled through remotes, with updates accessible via smartphone, bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections.

    DIY and repurposing

Many are spending the extra time they have during the pandemic quarantine to attempt DIY garden design ideas. You can find several DIY ideas or tutorials on websites such as YouTube or Pinterest on outdoor home improvement and garden projects.

However, for best results, we advise hiring experts for your landscaping needs. With Torrey Pines Landscaping, it’s possible to find many unique options in design to enhance the experience of your garden. You can see their portfolio on their website and give them a call today.

  • Landscape Art

    Landscape Art

In every profession, certain individuals put such an intense level of focus and energy into perfecting their craft that the results often become near works of art in their own right. This applies to carpentry, manufacturing, and – the subject of today’s article – landscaping.

We’re all well aware of the intense beauty of past landscaping efforts in places like Versailles, but what if I told you we have some of the most interesting and gorgeous contemporary pieces of landscaping right here in southern California? Companies like Torrey Pines Landscaping Company operating right here out of Point Loma are creating some of the most complex and beautiful cultural and local landscaping projects in the world, and they have the portfolio to prove it.

Their work, which has won recognition from a number of local publications like San Diego Home & Garden, has transformed disastrous yards suffering from decades of neglect into intricate works of art. Where there were once yards consisting of nothing but some dying grass and a few scraggily trees comes a botanical paradise that takes you through a number of the world’s histories via varying architecture and landscaping styles.

Their customers also have nothing but good things to say about them – their G-page and Yelp reviews have a number of long and glowing testimonials regarding their professionalism and the quality of their work. Robert Engler left this review, for instance, on Google:

Torrey Pines is the 4th company, starting over 10 years ago, we have had for landscapers. We had two mow & blow companies, and one other professional company but weren’t happy. TP fantastic. Our site supervisor is a true horticulture expert, the employees have an educational 1/2 day every other week, we NEVER have to worry about anything and our 1 acre+ of landscaping is a joy and pleasure. They just did a major needed driveway and retaining wall replacement; they are excellent hardscape contractors as well. They asked to copy and paste the note I sent them, but it wasn’t sufficient to communicate the quality of their work.

Gary Elliott, also through Google, remarks on the company’s uniquely exceptional work:

I cannot think of another company that has performed so exceptionally. I want to credit Doug Dilworth and his team that worked with us every step of the way as we transformed our backyard wasteland into a work of art. Doug is creative professional who stands by his word and delivered as one could only hope. I highly recommend Torrey Pines Landscape Company.

Finally, Ryan S. tells a story about Torrey Pines rectifying the horror show that was their new home’s landscaping upon purchase:

“We bought a home in the Crosby in Rancho Santa Fe, and it was an ugly mess of landscaping with a design that made the front look short and covered the back golf course view.  It needed a major beautification.
We knew we needed Torrey Pines Landscaping, and their wonderful team lead by the humble Harry Thompson.  Harry has a servant’s heart plus a special talent for landscape design.
Torrey Pines Landscaping transformed the ugly landscaping to an awarding winning design that ended up on the cover of San Diego Home/Garden.

If you really appreciate great design, beautiful flowers and nature, and quality work, Torrey Pines Landscaping is the only choice!”

All crafts have their artists, and Torrey Pines fits the bill for landscape maintenance and development. If you’re in the San Diego area and are looking to beautify your yard beyond the usual mow-and-blow, give them a call:

  • An Easy Choice For Your Landscaping Needs

One thing I’ve heard from every homeowner I’ve ever met was that finding a contractor or landscaper that was actually good at their job is almost impossible. The field is absolutely rife with one horror story after another of workers slouching on the job, projects takin months longer than they should, and ever-expanding budgets with mediocre results.

One of the worst I’ve heard recently is a contractor that was charged with completely redesigning a kitchen from the ground up (literally, they took the flooring out and everything). The guy put the poor woman on a waiting list four months after the contract was signed, and then his team proceeded to utterly mangle every single part of the job she had spent so long stressing over and planning with the owner of the company as he partied away south of the border.

Her kitchen was out of commission for months, and during much of that time her entire house smelled of various chemicals used during the construction process and was frequently choked with concrete dust as the clumsy oafs ripped up her floors to install an extra support beam. At the end of everything, she got some mismatched countertops, but otherwise things looked fine.

Fast forward a few months, and her son happened to point out to her that the new arch installed that replaced the wall that was previously there seemed to be bowing slightly. They took a couple nails and string and, sure enough, the whole ceiling was starting to collapse inward. After strenuously denying any wrong doing, after getting the second opinion of multiple other handymen, it turned out that the support structure the contractors had put into place was nowhere near strong enough for the load it now carried. Another 2 weeks were needed to make the necessary repairs.

The point is, a good construction company is way harder to find than it should be. With the kind of razor-thin margins these guys are working with and the fact that their entire business is run almost exclusively on word of mouth, you’d think they’d want to provide the best job they could.

Well, if you’re in the market for a landscaping redesign for your back or front yard and are in the San Diego area, I have some great news for you: we may have found one of the few good ones in the industry. Torrey Pines Landscaping Company is THE premier landscape design firm for Point Loma, San Diego, Encinitas, and general San Diego County area. Just take a look at some of their most recent work, a French Garden in Mission Hills and a full back yard redesign for their client in Point Loma.

Whether you’re just looking to touch up your yard or completely transform it into a modern outdoor entertainment center, Torrey Pines takes an incredible amount of pride in the work that they do and works with you to make sure you’re getting the kind of backyard urban landscaping that you’ve always dreamed of.

If you’re lucky enough to be looking for some landscaping work in Mission Hills or beyond in the San Diego area, make sure to give Torrey Pines a call. You won’t regret it.

  • Greener Pastures Await Right in Your Own Back Yard

Greener Pastures Await Right in Your Own Back Yard

    Spring time is here!

Studies have shown that spending more time outside can have a direct connection to one’s emotional aptitude and mental wellness. In fact, spending more time outside is the only natural way to receive Vitamin D, which is necessary for our nervous systems, and can cause major problems if left deficient.

And what about those outdoor grilling lovers? So many people enjoy a good backyard barbecue but lack the surroundings for typical enjoyment. Why not choose to make your yard a place you can truly relax in and get back to nature?

This got us to thinking and we began researching the benefits of landscaping in San Diego. We came across five great ones that you can read about below and we found the business that is making waves in the industry.

Our featured company might just be the fix that you and your yard need, providing customized landscaping options to create the oasis of your dreams. Studies have shown that having your yard landscaped can provide many benefits, such as the following:

    • Making memories in a private outdoor space: Having a relaxing place to rest and catch up with your relatives in the outdoors can actually increase the amount of time the whole family spends outside.
    • People love a good outdoor venue: It is a fact that when you have a nice yard more of your friends will want to occupy that space with you because of how comforting and relaxing the feel is. This translates to you becoming the coolest neighbor around. After all, everyone loves the ‘hostess with the most-est.’
    • Property values: By taking the time to have your yard professionally landscaped you can actually increase the value of your home and property. Which means your initial investment can actually pay for itself even after leaving you feeling healthier, happier, and more at peace.
    • Positive effect on the outdoor environment: Usually, landscaping is done with such finesse that it increases the likelihood of other woodland creatures coming to enjoy your outdoor space, as well. This means more birds if you happen to be a bird watcher, or possibly squirrels, chipmunks and other smaller creatures. When land is prepared for its climate it can reduce stormwater drainage and runoff or other natural erosion that could lead to additional, costly repairs down the road. Mulching, and laying sod can also prevent flooding when those spring downpours that April brings finally begin.
    • Ability to enjoy yourself without judgment: So, what if you enjoy that cold brewski at noon, if the sun is shining you should be able to right? Of course, and with a well-manicured back yard you’ll be able to do so at any time of the day without facing scrutiny from onlookers. What about old Rover? Taking your dog to the park may be a good day adventure, but what if you want to enjoy some fetch without having to walk too far or make a dreaded commute through traffic just to have to leash your dog once you get there?

To accomplish all of this it takes a top-notch landscaping company. San Diego is full of imitators, but luckily for you, we have found the very best. If you would like to transform your ordinary backyard into the envy of all of your neighbors then you need to get in contact with:
